Paling suffers first inside distance loss
LOGAN Paling suffered the first stoppage of his career at York Hall, Bethnal Green, on Friday.
The tough Birmingham light-welter was stopped in the second of a scheduled six rounder by Robert Caswell. That was the Chatham, Kent, prospect’s seventh win on the spin.
Logan, a convert from Muay Thai boxing, is brave and comes to fight. Journeymen often enter the ring to survive, Logan comes to win and give value for money. He’s a thoroughly likeable individual, to boot.
But the 31-year-old has now lost all nine pro contests. Shaun Cogan, a trainer respected throughout the trade, will, I’m sure, be considering the future.
A peach of a left hook to the body did for Logan at York Hall. He hit the canvas in agony, the full count being completed on the bell to end the second.
Up until the dramatic finish, 22-year-old Caswell – tall and upright – had bossed the action. He dictated exchanges behind a stiff jab and served notice of what was to follow with two hooks to the ribs in the first.
A left hook appeared to rattle Paling at the start of the next session, but he bravely attempted to bull forward.
And he did manage to connect with a left hook of his own before Caswell delivered that withering left hook to the body.
