Faizey is looking to a future with the pros

Henry Faizey…current Midlands champ, East Mids Cup winner

GOOD to meet Henry Faizey, an amateur eyeing a career in the pro ranks, at Birmingham’s Eastside gym on Sunday.

The teenage light-welter – that’s super-lightweight in today’s money – is certainly making his mark in the unpaid ranks.

He’s the current Midlands champ and has won the East Midlands Box Cup three times. He’s registered 22 wins in 29 contests and was fighting for Hall Green ABC before switching to Fitzpatrick’s Boxing Gym, in Leamington Spa, a year ago when his family moved from Maypole, Birmingham, to Stratford.

The 18-year-old – a property manager – wants to gain more experience, then punch for pay. He said: “I think my style will suit the pros. I set a high workrate and have good stamina. Sometimes it’s hard to get going over three rounds.”
