Busy MJ prepares for 102nd fight of career

MJ Hall after being honoured for reaching a century of contests

KEEPING up with the career of MJ Hall – surely Britain’s busiest pro – is a full-time occupation.

Just eight days after taking part in his 100th fight at Dudley Town Hall, the  Brierley Hill southpaw was in action again.

On the March 25 Telford International Centre show, MJ was outpointed over four rounds – 40-36 – by Ilkeston southpaw Jimmy Smith.

From all accounts, MJ endured a torrid time against the welterweight debutant. He suffered a bloody nose during a backs-to-the-wall third round, but – as almost always – heard the final bell.

The 31-year-old has won only three of 101 bouts (two draws) in a career that began in September, 2017. Only six opponents have stopped him.

He’s scheduled to fight again on Saturday at The Peacock, Canning Town. Zac Vassell will be in the opposite corner.

MJ has been the salvation of many promoters by taking contests at short notice. He’s one of boxing’s unsung heroes.

And don’t bank against him notching-up 200 fights.
