After three draws, a win at last for Traian

At last…Traian Tudosache has his hand raised by referee Churchill

TRAIAN Tudosache – a boxer who, incredibly, drew his first three paid contests – has finally secured a victory.

At BCB’s bill at The Hangar, Wolverhampton, last night (Friday), the Italian now based in Wolverhampton, outpointed Naheem Ali over four spirited rounds, clinching victory by a whitewash 40-36 margin.

It’s been a long time coming for the welter, originally from Lazio. He made his debut in September, 2021.

At the finish, trainer Richie Ghent told me: “Three draws in three fights – that’s probably never happened before. He’s been falling short with his jab because his feet haven’t been right, but he’s coming on.”

Traian said: “I’m happy, maybe I should’ve boxed a bit more. I mixed it, but it’s great to get the win.”

I, too, felt the Italian (10st 6lbs 7oz) didn’t utilise his height and reach advantages enough. But Blackburn’s Ali, a veteran of 107 bouts (two wins) certainly didn’t come to roll over.

He made Traian work for his win.

The Black Country boxer was guilty of neglecting his jab, instead winging hooks from both hands. He worked left hooks up and down in the second, but had to take jabs in reply from Ali (10st 12lb 6oz). Two cracking rights downstairs from Traian got through in the third, though Ali replied with a neat right of his own.

After a brief period on the ropes, Traian kept busy down the stretch to seal victory.

Hopefully, he’s now banished the hoodoo of drawn decisions.
