Trio of heavyweight talent…Williams, Dubois and Dacres

TOP, top sparring for two heavyweights guided by prominent Birmingham fight figure Max McCracken.

In fact, it doesn’t come much better.

Acocks Green amateur heavyweight sensation Matt Williams and top pro Solomon Dacres have both been in London sparring IBF world champ Daniel Dubois.

The fighter, who famously KOd Anthony Joshua, is preparing to defend his crown against Joseph Parker in Riyadh on February 22.

Max said:” Both sparred well. Don Charles (Dubois’ trainer) was very impressed with Matt - he did really well. Great experience for him. He’s still only 20  and didn’t look out of place. He’s a real talent.”

That is the general feeling among Birmingham fight figures. Williams, who possess a quite phenomenal engine, fights in the senior ABA elite championships in March. That will really reveal the extent of the former council grass cutter’s ability.

Warley’s Dacres – backed by a big promoter – is looking to step back in the ring in April on a major Queensberry bill.

After nine straight victories, the 31-year-old suffered defeat last time out when he was stopped by David Adeleye for the English title.
