Top Boxer’s hit list: DJ Tollerton, 3-0

DJ Tollerton…a towering lightweight at six foot tall

THE CLOCK is ticking towards Tommy Owens’ scintillating Top Boxer lightweight tournament, a roller-coaster, last-man-standing shoot out.

On September 9, at Solihull’s Planet Ice eight hopefuls will battle for a career-best payday of £6,000 – and a fast-track to a Midlands title fight.

They will fight over three rounds, a distance that ensures raw action. Make no mistake, the winner will have earned his cash bonanza, having fought three times on the night.

It looks like being one of the local bills of the year, topped by the mouthwatering Midlands lightweight title fight between Scott Melvin and Mykey Lee Broughton.

Phenomenal tickets sellers Niall Farrell and Bradley Goldsmith are also on the card. The message has to be: Get your tickets fast while they’re still up for grabs.

We now know the eight Top Boxer contenders – Stefan Vincent, Dylan Norman, Louis Fielding, Ryan Griffiths, DJ Tollerton, Daniel Williams, Delmar Thomas and Darnell Duut.

Each week my colleague DEREK FITPATRICK shines the spotlight on one of the boxers. It’s three rounds, three fights, three questions.

Fight bill for the Lincoln boxer’s big night

This week it’s the turn of Lincoln 22-year-old DJ TOLLERTON, unbeaten in three, all on points, all over the four round distance.

Pick your ideal first opponent on the night

Danny Williams, from Hereford. He’s got the same record as me and looks like he comes to fight. I think me and him would be a great match up.

You’re now warmed up, pick your ideal semi-final opponent

Dylan Norman looks a top kid. Same sort of experience level as me and he’s one of the favourites. Again, I like the look of his style and I think we would have a fun fight.

You’re now in the final. Who’s in the opposite corner?

The best of the rest . Not to bothered who it is, but I believe it’ll be Louis Fielding. Super experienced and been in there with top lads. His back foot boxing will be tricky to deal with, but I’m massive for this weight. You can’t teach being a nearly 6ft tall lightweight and I punch hard. I think I walk him down, beat him up and stop him!
