Shaun faces months out after fall at home

Cooper…suffered fractured skull

YOU have to feel for Black Country light-welter Shaun Cooper who faces months out of the ring following a freak accident.

The 26-year-old has suffered a fractured skull in a fall at home.

The serious injury could not have come at a worse time. On Saturday, the Willenhall boxer gave his career a major boost by uncorking a sterling performance against for British champ Sam Maxwell.

Cooper lost the six rounder on points, but showed he’s a test for the division’s iron. He tested the Liverpool star all the way.

Now this…it is beyond unlucky.

Shaun told fans on facebook: “I ain’t usually one to be posting my problems on the internet! But, unfortunately, I am out of the boxing game for few months now.

“Unfortunately, a couple of days ago I fell down the stairs with my son. Thankfully, he is OK, but I came out of it with a fractured skull.

“I just one to clarify that the fight  I had Saturday did not cause this problem. All being well, I’ll be fit and we’ll back in the game.

“Thanks to all supporters and sponsors who will be there for the next one. Big thanks to my wife for supporting me in this situation.”

We all wish Shaun a speedy recovery.
