Norman is added to GBM major title bill

EXCITING lightweight Dylan Norman has gained instant reward for last weekend’s quick knockout of Scot Tony Morton.

The Knowle prospect has earned a place on June 29’s major, title heavy show at Coventry Skydome – a packed bill that features Danny Quartermaine and Nyall Berry in European title action.

Dylan’s opponent has yet to be named, the fight’s distance yet to be revealed.

The night is staged by new, hungry and ambitious promoter GBM, an outfit which made a major stride towards boxing’s global big league this week by signing a broadcasting deal with DAZN.

Make no mistake, Norman, unbeaten in eight, has the chance to shine on his biggest platform to date.

The 23-year-old, now guided by Jon Pegg, will want to show GBM he’s a fighter they need to sign-up.

That’s the incentive and it makes sense: he’s exciting and sells tickets.

“I think it’s the right step forward,” Dylan told me, “a step in the right direction. I know I’m a late replacement, but the one thing I don’t lack is entertainment value.

“I’m amazed I’m going to box on such a great platform, an incredible platform for me. I think when they (GBM) see me on June 29 they’ll want me back.”

Last Saturday, Norman produced a brutal, if brief, performance in his first fight for Pegg’s Eastside gym.

Morton was poleaxed in the second by a wrecking ball left hook to the body.

“I think I am growing into my true strength now,” Norman added. “I have always had the power, but didn’t put too much intent into my shots. Now I’m growing into my manhood you’re going to see a lot more stoppages.

“I’ve always believed in myself. You can’t beat the traditional route (first winning a Midlands title, then English, then British…), but whatever’s lined up, I’ll take as long as my team think it’s the right move for me.”
