Mia makes light of a weighty problem

Mia Holland is unmarked after dominant display last night

FORMER elite amateur Mia Holland gave away weight, but nothing else to Argentinian Antonolla Shirley Molina last night (Saturday).

Fighting in her home city of Wolverhampton on BCB’s Hangar show, Holland cruised to a whitewash four rounds win, 40-36 on referee Ryan Churchill’s card.

Faced with a boxer nudging the featherweight limit at 8st 11lbs, Mia, having her second professional outing, came in at a career heavy 8st 8lbs.

But that extra baggage didn’t lessen the zip in her work. She controlled the action behind a sharp jab, she controlled the tempo – she controlled pretty much everything.

Trainer Richie Ghent said: “This was the heaviest Mia has been. What impressed me was her sharpness because that sharpness usually comes from cutting weight and that’s something Mia didn’t have to do.”

Holland jabbed up and down in the first, turned up the heat in third when she opened up with both hands and made Molina pay when the visitor attempted to push her back in the last.

On social media, Mia posted: “Such an unreal experience last night. Made it 2-0 and I’m enjoying the experience and constantly improving. Looking forward to what’s to come.”
