Melvin: “I will punch through Mykey Lee!”
AN excited Scott Melvin has reacted to news his Midlands lightweight title fight with unbeaten Birmingham rival Mykey Lee Broughton is on with a simple message to fans: “I’m starving and I’m ready to eat.”
The pair meet for the vacant belt on Tommy Owens blockbuster September 9 show at Planet Ice, Solihull.
It really is a cracking Second City derby between two hot prospects locking horns on the way up. In terms of anticipation, it’s there with such all-Birmingham title fights as Malcolm Melvin (no relation) and Shaun Cogan all those years ago.
It’s a must watch for fans.
Scott, aged 22, told me: “I’m going to punch through him! You’ll have a lot to say about me after this fight. Trust me, this is the fight where you’ll see what I’m all about.
“I cannot wait, but first I have 10 weeks of pure hell to make sure I’m the best ‘me’ on the night. I didn’t get to see his last fight (Broughton gained a six round win over Lee Hallett on Friday), but I know he’s a good fighter, anyway, so I’ll expect him to be very durable and stubborn.”
Scott added: “I’m the winner in this, no doubt. I’ll show my levels.”
Now that’s fighting talk!
