Media deal for East Mids top prospects

BIG news for the East Midlands’ fight fraternity.

Fightcity.uk – a fledgling boxing site that has simply exploded on the scene – has gained its own page in the Coventry Telegraph.

Every Thursday, a page in the daily paper will be devoted to Coventry and Warwickshire boxers. That agreement is proof of the huge strides trainers such as Edwin Cleary and Derek Fitzpatrick have made in putting Warwickshire back on the boxing map.

That agreement shows the strength of depth that now exists. The region can now boast some of the country’s most exciting prospects.

A stream of champs are coming out of the county. Mark my words.

There’s middleweight contender River Wilson-Bent, Danny Quartermaine – a star of the future, big punching Ashlee Eales, newcomer Amir Abubaker, former top female amateur Jessica Barry, Stratford’s unbeaten Lewis Howells…

The list goes on and on.

Boxers such as Quartermaine will soon be household names – and the media know it.

The boxers now have a voice in the East Midlands’ biggest paper and on its website. They and the trainers – Edwin Cleary has a wealth of glorious anecdotes – need to make that voice heard. Their progress – on-line and in print – will be charted by thousands of new followers.

Make no mistake. Big ring things are happening in Warwickshire and now the men and women making it happen have a platform.

It’s not so much a renaissance, more a sudden eruption of new talent.
