Machine Gun Collins to pull the trigger in his Brum home city

THE rattle of Tommy “Machine Gun” Collins’ firepower will again be heard in Birmingham.

Unbeaten in 10 fights, he is set to headline on BCB Promotions’ May 10th show at the H Suite, Edgbaston.

The 26-year-old welterweight – trained by dad Dean - has a huge following and is riding high after scoring two shut-out performances over Marian Wesolowski and Brayan Mairena.

He is, surely, within touching distance of title fights,

Another man ready to take the step up is light-heavyweight Troy Jones, a Birmingham lad now billed out of Tamworth. He’s also on the bill.

I like the 25-year-old. He has a big personality and brings excitement to the ring. He can bang, but still has rough edges. That’s a recipe for entertainment.

Troy put in a solid six rounds against durable Ondrej Budera in February, and his eyes are set on a shot at the English title.

BCB, who, in Paul Webb, have a fine PR writer – his interviews with boxers are top draw – state: “James Scarrott took his leap up to Midlands title level in his stride, outpointing the always-game Jamie Stewart to win the welterweight belt.”

I disagree. I think he was lucky to have his hand raised.

It’s by-the-by and differences of opinion add fuel to boxing’s fire. Scarrott, aged 20, is also on the bill.

So is unbeaten Sian O’Toole who continued her march up the rankings last time out, gaining more experience by defeating Vaida Masiokaite in a competitive bout in Wolverhampton.

The 24-year-old from Droitwich has already won the Midlands featherweight title.

“Pinky” Florence – I love the name, it has echoes of classic novel Brighton Rock - made a successful return following a lengthy time away from the ring when he outpointed Stu Greener in his first fight in five years.

The 27-year-old, from Malvern. blew off the cobwebs and is looking to build momentum as he continues phase two of his career.

Former GB amateur Tori Ellis-Willetts makes her much anticipated return to the ring after six months away. The 28-year-old from Nuneaton believes she can go right to the top of the sport, and an active 2024 could see her in the mix for a major title.

Finally, Birmingham’s Levi Vaughan will make his bow in the paid ranks in the light heavyweight division.

*Tickets are available now priced at £40 standard and £80 VIP ringside from the boxers directly or by emailing info@bcb-promotions.com.
