Littlechild: the boxer with pure KO power

Sam Littlechild signs pro forms with Jon Pegg

SAM Littlechild – a man who brings raw power to the ring – has a simple message for fans awaiting his ring debut: “Don’t blink.”

The product of Kingstanding’s 2nd City gym, Goodchild looks set to bring plenty of excitement to the pro game. He’s what we all love -  banger.

He’ll be trained by 2nd City boss Paddy Farrell and managed by Jon Pegg.

“I’m heavy handed and when I let my shots go, people feel them,” said 25-year-old Sam who lives in Tamworth.

He’s turned pro following a very good 27 bout amateur career (23 wins) and took the Midlands senior elite title only weeks ago. He’s fought in a string of top tournaments, including two Haringey Cups.

The plan is for Sam, who by day works for Paddy Farrell’s scaffolding business, to make his bow as a light-heavy in June, with later title opportunities coming at super-middle.

“I was banging out people as a cruiser,” said the larger-than-life character. “It’s going to be fun.”

Sam’s early years were spent in Jersey, but he returned to his West Midlands roots aged 19 to chase ring glory.

They call Littlechild the Jersey Juggernaut.

He’s certainly been getting top sparring in preparation for his debut, sharing the ring with both Shakan Pitters and Ben Whittaker.

“Over the last few months I’ve been mixing it up in preparation for the pros,” Sam said. Ben Whittaker and Shakan Pitters – I’ve been mixing it up with the best. The sparring went really well. I sparred Ben Whittaker four or five times – that knowledge is priceless.”

“Sparring top lads at Eastside gym, lads who have won Midlands, English and British titles, has made me really want to reach that level.

“I want to go all the way. Midlands and British titles appeal. It’s going to be exciting – don’t blink!”

Of his new signing, Jon Pegg said: “When Sam gets down to super-middle he will be a proper, proper handful.”
