KO king Sahil is set for explosive debut

Sahil Khan in his title laden amateur days

SAHIL Khan – a golden boy of amateur boxing – will make his paid debut on Birmingham’s massive August 19 Matchroom bill.

The show, streamed on DAZN and staged at the Utilita Arena, is headlined by Olympic gold medallist Galal Yafai.

On facebook, Sahil posted: “I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be making my highly anticipated professional debut on a Matchroom card, which will be broadcast live on DAZN.

“Get ready for an unforgettable night of boxing action as I embark on this exciting new chapter in my career.

Join me and let's make this debut a remarkable success!”

The pro game has gained a true five star prospect in Black Country KO artist Sahil.

It’s early days, but judging by the boxer’s impeccable CV big things await Khan, a young man with a massive following.

The 20-year-old, a product of Wolverhampton’s Merridale amateur club, simply swept aside all before him as a pro.

The bald stats are near astonishing. Of 70 contests, Sahil lost only seven. He knocked out 28 – 18 of those victims in the first round.

Sahil, from Dudley, carries Naseem Hamed power – and he wasn’t just blowing away novices on club shows.

The Black Country banger pretty much mopped-up in the unpaid ranks. How’s this for a CV?

Khan is a six times national champ, eight times Midlands champ, six times international champ, Haringey gold medallist, tri nations title holder…

Wait for the earth tremor when Sahil, who carries dynamite in each fist, makes his pro bow.

Sahil, who will be managed by former pro Nathaniel Howell, predicts big things to come. He is not alone.

“It got to the point where I’d done almost everything as an amateur, been everywhere, and thought, ‘what’s left?’

Post for Sahil Khan’s pro debut next month

“I don’t want to disrespect any coach or the set-up – I have respect for them. But (at international level) there are a lot of favourites.”

“Fans at the August 19 show can expect explosive knockouts,” he said. “My resume speaks for itself. I believe I can deliver at world title level in multiple divisions. But it’s too soon to be jumping the ladder – you have to take one step at a time.”

Sahil, a man whose passion outside the ring is snooker, looks on cue for success – and he appears to thrive on the pressure that comes with such lofty expectations.

“Since the age of 15 I’ve lived with those expectations,” he said. “That expectation pushes you to try to train harder than the others, to diet harder than the others.”
