Gully to fight on big TV bill in home city

Gully Powar….fighting on Sky Sports Wolverhampton show next month

HUMAN buzzsaw Gully Powar has clinched a slot on next month’s major Wolverhampton show topped by Tyler Denny’s middleweight European title fight.

It’s a major step-up for the 21-year-old who is now unbeaten in six. On November 18, Powar will be fighting in his own city on a show televised by Sky Sports. The venue is The Halls, formerly the Civic Hall.

It’s Gully’s chance to shine before a national audience.

He told me: “I don’t know who I’ve got, but I’ll be fighting at 8st 12lbs, only two pounds over super-bantam.

“It’s an amazing opportunity. I have always manifested appearing on these big shows and knew it was going to come sooner rather than later.

“Everyone is going to love my style and, at my natural weight, the power will be there.

“It’s time to make some noise, getting this opportunity in my home city is amazing. I’m the dark horse – people don’t see how I train and spar. When I fight, that’s the realisation of what I do behind the scenes.

“I’m getting up at 5.30 in the morning, every morning, and running seven miles. I’m in a full camp with no disruptions.”

He added: “I’m the truth, I’ll show everyone how good I am on November 18. This will definitely be my best performance to date and I want to show people something different, something unique.”

The Boxxer promotion also features local fighters Sam Eggington, Scott Melvin and Nyall Berry.
