Frankie guiding Sian on path to stardom

Sian and Frankie look set to be a celebrated pro boxing double act

THE pro game has gained a very, very talented addition in Sian O’Toole, partner of decorated champ Frankie Gavin.

The Droitwich feather has turned over after a celebrated amateur career that saw her gain three national titles, a tri-nations championship and bouts for Team GB. She’s represented our country at world and European level. At club level, she gained silverware for Hall Green and St Ives.

Sian, aged 23, hopes to make her ring bow in June or July, with Frankie – former world amateur champ – working alongside her in an advisory capacity.

The couple have a child together, 18 month Michael Gavin. The baby possibly emerged into the world wearing a pair of boxing gloves.

Sian told me: “It was the right time for me to turn pro. I’ve been boxing for 10 years.”

Frankie, former British pro champ and world amateur titleholder, is excited about the future. “The pro game will suit Sian more, she’ll be able to pick her shots and not rush things.

“I know you need that bit of luck, but there are champs out there who she’d stand on their heads.”

Sian with Michael after another amateur success

He added: “She’s a lot more dedicated than I was.”

On facebook, Sian posted: “I am currently looking for a company or individual that would be interested in supporting my new journey into the professional ranks. I have had a fantastic career in amateur boxing but I feel this the perfect time for me.

“I am a former Team GB boxer and three times national champion, having flown across the world boxing for my country in multiple tournaments, including European and World Championships.

“Having considered this for a while now, it is time to showcase my hard work and talent on a different stage. A new and upcoming challenge which I can’t wait to get started.

Frankie gives Sian corner advice

“Boxing is a tough sport and in order to be in the best possible condition for my debut and beyond, it would be highly appreciated if the pressure of costly medicals and licensing were lifted to kickstart my career.”
