HAVING come through his paid debut with flying colours, Jack Finlan returns to the Hangar Venue, Wolverhampton, on Saturday for his second fight, writes PAUL WEBB.

The 23-year-old super featherweight, from Burntwood, features on BCB Promotions’ major “March Madness” show.

Last October, Finlan faced the vastly experienced Lithuanian Simas Volosinas and secured a 40-36 victory on Ryan Churchill’s scorecard after four, one-sided rounds. “Saturday is almost here, and I’m excited and ready to go,” said Finlan.

“The fight with Volosinas was more about absorbing the atmosphere and enjoying the experience. He’s a tough man, but I felt I handled it well and managed the pressure I’d put on myself. Boxing over four rounds as a professional didn’t feel that different from the amateurs. It was more about adjusting to the smaller gloves and getting used to the subtle differences.

“However, the feedback was positive, and everyone was happy with my performance.”
Finlan began his career as an amateur at Platinum Boxing and, after turning professional, remained at the gym in Burntwood under coach Ste Cadman.

Preparation for this fight has included numerous sparring rounds at Impact Boxing, as well as BCB’s own gym in Wednesbury.

“The nerves are definitely less this time around, and it’s a great opportunity for me on a really strong card. The Hangar is such a good place to box, and I want to be as active as possible. My last couple of years were hampered by injuries, and now I want to stay busy and box as frequently as I can.”

Queensbury Promotions duo Ben Fail (8-0) and heavyweight Joe Bourne are also in action, along with BCB's Ollie Cooper (9-0) and Ryan Woolridge (11-0). Brandon Bethell (4-1), James Griffiths (7-0), Cory O’Regan (13-0), Mia Holland (1-0), and Jack Wyn Roberts complete the card.

Final tickets are available now, priced at £45 or £80 VIP, from the boxers directly or by emailing info@bcb-promotions.com.
