Fightcity: staggering support, new link-up

Egyptian Collections…now part of the fightcity.uk success story

FOR just once, I’d like to briefly steer away from the boxing reports, interviews and opinions to say a massive thank you.

The viewing figures following last weekend’s Resorts World big fight action were staggering, truly staggering – 34,000 visits, 42,000 page views.

And the following grow with each day. I was initially surprised by the popularity of fightcity.uk – a project launched to stave off boredom in retirement. I’m now truly stunned by the eruption in popularity.

Over the last three weeks there has been an explosion of interest. What’s more, fightcity.uk is now read in 81 countries – and some of the places are unexpected: I have 20 regular readers in Nepal, 74 in Bermuda…there’s even one resident in the Maldives who can’t get enough of the Midlands fight scene.

The unbelievable rise would not have been possible without the support of fight fans, trainers, promoters and, of course, boxers. All have helped to make this site – a site launched just over two months ago – such an overwhelming success.

The thousands of hits – and the hits are rising with each day – underlines one fact. Fightcity.uk is an integral voice for those actively involved in the sport. It has already become an essential tool to publicise fights, fighters and shows.

And this is a success story built without twitter, whatsapp and the many other social media portals.

It is a success achieved the old fashioned way, through the power of words.

Fightcity.uk will continue to tell it as it is, it will not sugar-coat below-par performances, it will, therefore, continue to ruffle a few feathers.

The men at the sharp end of the sport – seasoned professionals such as Jon Pegg, Malcolm Melvin, Richie Carter, Paul Counihan, PJ Rowson, Spencer McCracken, Scott Murray, Pete Hickenbottom…, understand that and, I sense, respect it.

More importantly, the fans understand it and want it.

Fightcity.uk will continue to grow.

This week saw another step forward – a link forged between this website and Egyptian Collections, a company that sponsors a string of top pro boxers.

That sponsorship includes official, branded  team wear for fighters and their corners and fighters’ merchandise for fans, from which the boxers receive a healthy slice of the profits.

To find out what Egyptian collections is all about go to https://egyptiancollections.co.uk

Those visiting the site will automatically be linked to fightcity.uk

Make no mistake, big things are happening – and they’re happening because of fighters, fans, promoters and trainers.

You’ve all played a massive part in making fightcity.uk one of the country’s fastest growing boxing sites.
