TELFORD cruiser Jacob Lloyd will make his debut for BCB Promotions at Dudley Town Hall on March 28, writes PAUL WEBB.
The 22-year-old from Shifnal was an excellent amateur, competing at national championships as well as the biggest amateur tournament in Europe, the Haringey Box Cup. Lloyd trains at the Bright Star Boxing Academy under coach Mitch Roberts and will be the community-focused gym's first professional.
"I'm really excited about making my debut, said Lloyd. “I present myself as calm, but I am buzzing, and I'm going to enjoy it. I boxed for four years as an amateur and enjoyed every minute. Me and my coach had a sit-down after Haringey and decided now was the right time to turn professional.

“It felt like I had boxed most people in the Midlands and I want to be active. Mitch knew promoter Errol Johnso, and I looked at BCB's fighters and how often they box and the quality of the sparring. It was an easy decision to make."
Lloyd is the latest addition to a stacked card that features Midlands featherweight champion duo Ryan Griffiths and Sian O'Toole, Midlands prospect of the year Omarah Taylor, unbeaten duo Blaine Williams and Jay Jay Tonks, as well as Queensbury Promotions signed Ben Collins and former Midlands title challenger Liam Gould.
"I'm pleased to add another talented fighter to our team,” said Johnson. “Jacob has a lot of ability and had some good wins in the amateurs, so I'm excited to see what he does in the pro game. Dudley Town Hall is a great venue for boxing, and it's an excellent card from top to bottom.”
*Tickets are available now priced £45 general admission and £80 VIP from the boxers directly or by emailing info@bcb-promotions.com.
