Boom Boom boost at Midland fight awards

Ray Mancini…guest of honour at big afternoon for Midlands boxing

THE Board of Control’s annual Midlands area awards on Sunday, June 25, really is shaping up to be a superb event.

This year, it’s been given a new venue – Cannock’s Premier Suite – and a lot more sparkle. In the past, I’ve attended the ceremony and felt it a little understated. This year’s Sunday lunchtime ceremony really is punching its weight.

I’m looking forward to the event which showcases the very best in Midlands boxing talent. My report will appear in the Birmingham Mail, Sunday Mercury and fightcity.uk – a website that now has 50,000 followers.

I don’t know if tickets are still available, but fight fans should make their enquiries to harris.matthew95@yahoo.co.uk

Alternatively, ring 07805 103279.

It’s your chance to meet the best fighters in our region, a chance to chat with your heroes. It showcases the very best in Midlands boxing.

Tickets are just £16.50, a table of 10 £150, a VIP table of 10 £300.

The event has been given an extra boost by news legend Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini will be guest of honour.

Ray, from Youngstown, Ohio, ruled the lightweight division in the early 1980s. There have been few more exciting lightweights.

A host of fight memorabilia is up for grabs as raffle prizes, with cash raised going to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
