Troy Jones…looking to continue his unbeaten run at Eastside Rooms

CHELMSLEY Wood banger Troy Jones is in no hurry for titles – despite taking the quick route to glory in most contests.
The light-heavy brings his explosive power to BCB’s Eastside Rooms, Birmingham, bill on Saturday September 2.
His first goal will be to keep up a hot streak of TKOs, which has seen him stop four opponents in succession since linking up with coach Lee Beard.
He last removed Harry Matthew, in the fourth round, on June 16, doing a demolition job on a usually-durable former English title challenger.
Jones has also halted John Tillilli, Konstantin Alexsandrov and Patryk Polasik for his quartet of stoppages, adding to the three points successes on his unbeaten seven bout record.
The former Solihull Boxing Club amateur reached two area finals and a national semi-final, in the NABC and England Elite Championships, while amassing 12 wins from 21 bouts.
The 25-year-old, who stands at 6ft 4in, was born in Chelmsley Wood,  grew up in Tamworth, but is now living in Leicestershire.
He said: “I’m still learning and picking up new things. Just because I’m on a bit of a roll, it doesn’t mean that there’s no room for improvement.
“I just want to keep performing well and my last win was a comfortable one. The opponent (Harry Matthews) doesn’t get stopped often, but he was under a lot of pressure.
“It’s good to be replicating what I’ve been doing in the gym, on fight night, and I boxed well. I was going up and down, with my punches, and moving my feet in and out.
“I put him down at the end of the third round and he got counted, but the bell went instead. I got another knockdown, in the fourth, and that was the end of it.
“My last four six-rounders haven’t gone to the finish, so maybe I still need one or two more and then I can start pushing on to bigger things.
“It would be nice to get into double figures before the end of the year and keep the momentum going, but let’s see what happens.
“I want to keep ramping things up and we’re looking at ways and opportunities to go forward. I listen to my coach (Lee Beard) and manager (Errol Johnson).”
